In this introductory course, participants will explore the basic operations of Ableton Live and discover the fundamentals of creating music in one of the world’s most popular digital audio workstations. Topics include an introduction to MIDI and the DAW, the fundamentals of audio recording, software instruments, audio editing, processing and mixing.
The course is delivered live online via ZOOM, so a computer with audio and camera is required. Students should also have speakers, headphone and Ableton 10 (trial version available to download). Classes are recorded and will be available for all participants.
Lecturer: Skaria Thoppil
Skaria Thoppil is an audio producer, sound designer and specialises in acoustics for virtual environments. His projects revolve around Drum & Bass productions, sound design for film, podcasts and audiobooks and is involved in the development of hyper-realistic acoustic spaces within VR environments. Skaria has been involved with audio and electronic music production since 2012 and uses Ableton Live for most of his projects.
