PHIL SLATER QUINTET
Date: Monday 31st May Time: 7:30pm (Doors); 8:00pm (Concert)
Phil Slater is a trumpeter and composer who resides on the stunning coast of Illawarra. Surrounded by nature, with the calming scent of the ocean only a breeze away – Phil’s music is heavily influenced by one of Australia’s many terrestrial paradises.
As a composer and bandleader, Slater’s improvisations are open and textural with melodic and minimalist narratives that can only be attained through his distinctly unique vocabulary.
ELANA STONE DUO
Date: Monday 21st June Time: 7:30pm (Doors); 8:00pm (Concert)
Singer/songwriter Elana Stone is an ARIA Award-winning vocalist and songwriter whose style combines instrumental invention with eccentricity, and inclines to write pop that is by turns exultant or introspective. If Ella Fitzgerald met Dirty Projectors and Joni Mitchell, you’d have an idea of how Elana might sound, but you’d be missing the country and folk influences too!
Expect a deep dive into her catalogue with an inventive attitude to arrangements, played by two of Australia’s most accomplished musicians.
Date: Monday 12th July Time: 7:30pm (Doors); 8:00pm (Concert)
An exotic blend of world, jazz and classical music, Gary Daley travelled down Bungarribee Road in Sydney’s outer western suburbs to his earliest music lessons … and there the journey unfolded.
Named after the Indigenous word for ‘idyllic meeting place’, Bungarribee is an imaginative re-working of the classic jazz quartet. Paul Cutlan’s masterful bass clarinet is set against an exotic rhythm section featuring accordion, cello and Beier’s south Indian hand percussion, bells and rhythmic knick-knacks.
GREG COFFIN TRIO
Date: Monday 9th August Time: 7:30pm (Doors); 8:00pm (Concert)
