Ben Gurton

Academic Lecturer

Ben has been a professional trombone player in all areas of the Australian music industry for over 25 years. He has completed a Bachelor of Music (Jazz) from the Adelaide Conservatorium and a Master of Music from the Australian Institute of Music.

As a highly sort after performer, Ben has played for television shows both in Australia and internationally. His long list of credits include The Voice, Australian Idol, Strictly Dancing and So You Think You Can Dance, China’s I Am A Singer, The Masked Singer, and The Grammy Awards. He has toured with Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Suzi Quatro, Noel Gallagher, Tim Minchin, Michael Bublé, Tones And I, Michael Bolton, Florence and the Machine, and in the studio has recorded parts for Genesis Owusu, Guy Sebastian, Anthony Warlow, Passenger, Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John.

In musical theatre, he has played for a long list of professional productions which include Pippin, Chicago, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Dream Lover, Singin’ In The Rain and Dirty Dancing.
