Dr. David Fenton is a highly credentialed and experienced theatre director, creative industries executive and academic. He’s the Associate Head of Learning and Teaching for all postgraduate programs at AIM.
David had directed over sixty-five professional productions during his thirty years in the industry. Significant positions David has held include Metro Arts Brisbane (CEO), NIDA (Head of Performance Practices) Sydney Olympic Park Authority (Manager of Events and Entertainment) and Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival (Festival Director).
Originally trained as a drama and history teacher, he has a Masters of Fine Arts in Dramaturgy from QUT, where he also completed a practice-led Ph.D. in Performance Innovation in 2007. This work earned David the Philip Parsons Prize for Performance as Research from The Australian Association for Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies.
