Duncan Brown

ACADEMIC LECTURER

Duncan Brown is a professional bass player and teacher with a resume that’s full of impressive credits. Duncan has a Diploma in Jazz Studies (Performance) and a Graduate Diploma  (Music) from the Australian National University.  

Since the late 90s, Duncan has been an in-demand live and session player who has shared the stage with a long list of acts that includes Grace Knight, Marcia Hines, Margaret Urlich, Paloma Faith and members of Elvis Presley’s TCB band. He has played with renowned Steely Dan tribute band The Bodacious Cowboys and the internationally acclaimed acapella group The Idea of North.  

He has played in the live band for a string of long-running hit musicals including Mamma Mia!,  Priscilla Queen of the DesertBilly ElliotDirty DancingGreaseThe Rocky Horror Show, and Kinky Boots. 

Duncan has held a teaching position at The Australian Institute of Music since 2005 .
