Johanna Allen

Academic Lecturer

Johanna Allen is one of Australia’s most acclaimed singers / actors. She has worked within musical theatre, theatre, opera, film, television, and cabaret. She also works as a director, writer and curator/artistic director across theatre, festivals and television. 

Johanna has a Bachelor of Music Performance (with honours) and a Bachelor fo Arts in Drama Performance. She has also completed further training at the Juilliard School & Actors Studio in New York.  

Johanna’s recent credits include: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Sound of Music National Tour, Euromash Melbourne Recital Centre Concert series, A Little Night MusicShowboat, Ode to Nonsense (State Opera of South Australia), The Threepenny Opera (Sydney Theatre Company), The Pirates of Penzance (Opera Australia, national tour & DVD release) and The Mikado (Opera Australia).  

Johanna has worked as a vocal coach for hit TV shows The Voice and X Factor. She is writer and performer of The Songs that Got Away based on the music of Harold Arlen and is a presenter/producer nationally for ABC Radio.
