Peter Smith

Academic Lecturer

Peter Smith is a multi-instrumentalist with experience as a performer, musicologist, conductor, recording artist and audio engineer. 

Peter received his Bachelor in clarinet performance in 2009, and his Masters in clarinet performance in 2012, both from the Sydney Conservatorium. He has completed further studies with numerous internationally lauded clarinettists including Cathy McCorkill, Sue Newsome, Frank Celata, Peter Jenkin, and Mark Walton.  

Highlights of Peter’s extensive performance career include the Balmain Sinfonia, Strathfield Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Chamber Opera, Wollongong Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Kammerklang, Halcyon, and Ensemble Offspring. In addition to working at AIM, Peter conducts the Sydney Conservatorium Clarinet Choir. 

Since 2014 onwards, Peter has pursued an interest in producing covers of video game music for his Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/soundole). His most recent album releases include ‘The Gamelark Reed Trio’, a set of works from video games arranged for reed trio, and ‘The Classical EWI’, a collection of classical works arranged for the Electric Wind Instrument.
