Sally Bourne

Academic Lecturer

Sally has been working in theatre, TV, film & cabaret for over 40 years and made her debut in the title role of the original Australian cast of the musical ANNIE. She was then cast in the musicals NINE & LES MISERABLES before moving to London in 1991. 

During her time in the U.K Sally worked in the West End musicals; MY FAIR LADY, LES MISERABLES, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, HEY MR PRODUCER, THE JOHN WAYNE PRINCIPLE & the world’s premier productions of the musicals; THE BEAUTIFUL GAME & JERRY SPRINGER the OPERA at the Royal National Theatre. 

Sally was a regular on London’s cabaret & stand up circuit for over 10 years & was cast as Eva’s maid in the film Evita during her time there.

Since returning to Australia in 2004, she has performed in Damn Yankees, The Boy From Oz & Brigadoon (State Theatre) & the world’s premier productions of Shane Warne the Musical, Once We Lived Here (Green Room Award nomination) & as Layla in the Cat Stevens musical Moonshadow. 

Her television credits include; The Sullivans, I Can Jump Puddles, Prisoner, Small Time Gangster, Neighbours, Newtons Law & Ms. Fishers Modern Murder Mysteries. 

Sally has been involved in over 30 cabaret shows as a performer, writer, director, and dramaturge & most recently appeared at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival as a part of the Spontaneous Broadway team. 

Sally is also one of Melbourne’s busiest singing teachers. She’s been teaching for over 30 years privately and at schools; (London) at The School of the Science of Acting & Mountview Theatre School and (Australia) Ministry of Dance, Patrick Studio’s Australia, The Howard Fine Acting School, The Victorian College of the Arts & The Australian Institute of Music.
