Vincent Giles

Associate Head of Learning and Teaching - Post Graduate

Vincent Giles is an experimental composer; a tinkerer with acoustic and electronic sound in the context of concert music, electronic music, installation, and performance.

His works are influenced by the natural world, science and mathematics, and self-imposed compositional limitations. Vincent holds a doctorate from the University of Melbourne in Sonic Arts, in which he explored the intersection of music/sound art, neuroscience, information systems, and evolutionary replicator systems.

He has released a number of recordings under his own name and in collaboration with other artists.

Vincent is Vice-President and co-Director of Tilde New Music and Sound Art Inc., an organisation that presents a biennial festival, academy and other activities that provides a platform for experimentation and collaboration in new music.
