AIM’s New Short Courses: Composition, Audio Production, Theory & Vocal Skills

LEARN HOW TO MAKE MUSIC.

AIM has launched a new series of music short courses designed for anyone looking to learn more about music. Develop your skills as a musician, music producer, vocalist or composer/songwriter. These introductory short courses are perfect for newcomers to music, alongside musicians interested in gaining more knowledge.

Gain new skills in music production with our introduction to Ableton Live, hone your vocal performance with our accomplished singing teachers or enhance your songwriting skills with our dedicated introduction to composition, designed specifically for songwriters and musicians. You can also learn the basics of music theory. All short courses are delivered online.

Our new short courses commence on Saturday November 20th.

MUSIC PRODUCTION: ABLETON SKILLS 1

In this introductory course, participants will explore the basic operations of Ableton Live and discover the fundamentals of creating music in one of the world’s most popular digital audio workstations. Topics include an introduction to MIDI and the DAW, the fundamentals of audio recording, software instruments, audio editing, processing and mixing.

Dates: Saturdays. Commencing November 20th for 5 weeks.

COMPOSING FOR SONGWRITERS

In this beginners course, attendees will be introduced to the core elements of composition including: rhythmic patterns, common and useful chord progressions, melody writing and song analysis. Music theory is explored in context. These are essential skills for any songwriter keen on taking their compositions to the next level.

Dates: Saturdays. Commencing November 20th for 5 weeks.

MUSIC PERFORMANCE: VOCAL SKILLS 1

This beginners program is designed for students looking to develop good vocal technique through a variety of exercises. Short course students will focus on warming up, posture, breath control, vocal health, intonation and harmonising with others. Get an in-depth introduction to major scales, intervals, vocal harmony and more. Over the 5 week course, students will also work on an ensemble piece together.

Dates: Saturdays. Commencing November 20th for 5 weeks.

INTRODUCTION TO MUSIC THEORY

This course will introduce students to the most fundamental areas of music theory and harmony. The course is designed for learners with no prior knowledge of music theory, explaining key concepts in a logical, step by step manner. Lessons are delivered online via ZOOM. Classes are recorded and will be available for all participants..
