Everything we do comes back to one thing. We’re proud to launch Only Music, our new brand platform celebrating almost 60 years of the Australian Institute of Music’s unwavering dedication to shaping the musicians of tomorrow.
Over the past year, we have spoken to countless past, present, and future students, staff, friends, and stakeholders from the wider AIM community to understand what truly drives them, what gives their lives meaning. What we found was this: it’s the same thing that inspires us. Music isn’t just what we do; it’s what we understand better than anyone else can.
Only Music is a declaration of music’s unique ability to connect, move, and define us. If only music can do this, then only we can teach you how to harness it: to turn emotion into expertise, chaos into craft, and passion into profession. Only Music is our statement of complete devotion.

This platform has been launched with a flagship brand film, ‘Escape the Noise’. This cinematic exploration of Only Music stars Elise Madgwick, a current student of AIM’s Bachelor of Music, as she grapples with the overwhelming noise of everyday life.
Caught between competing career advice – well-meaning parents, side-hustle sages (played by AIM students Tyson Bridgewood and Excel Egwutuoha), and self-designated experts clogging her social feeds – Elise finds solace and a sense of belonging at AIM.
Shot in first-person POV, the film puts the audience in Elise’s shoes as she cuts through the noise to find her way to the only thing that matters: music.
The film features an original score and sound design composed by AIM Academic Lecturer, Dr Bonnie Green. Program Leads Nic Cecire and Sam Mudie brought their expertise to the production, with Nic contributing creatively and performing on drums and Sam recording guitar effects. The team was also supported by fellow AIM staff, Jerry Zhang and Jourdain Vitello, who each contributed to the engineering, mixing, and mastering of the final score.
“In a world full of creative generalist higher education providers, Only Music highlights AIM’s clear point of difference. The platform resonates deeply with those who understand that feeling you can only get from music and want to take that next step. Only Music is a statement of AIM’s commitment to developing that next generation of Australian artists.” – Ben O’Hara, Chief Executive Officer
“Music asks something different of people. It demands imagination, discipline, courage and an ability to communicate what cannot always be put into words. Our responsibility as educators is to help students turn that deeply personal connection with music into mastery of their craft and the confidence to build a life around it. That is what Only Music means to me.” – Dr Suneeti Rekhari, Chief Academic Officer
“Only Music is who we are as an institution – it’s the reason we get up in the morning and a platform we can authentically own. I’m incredibly proud of our students, academics, professional staff, and partners who helped shape and deliver on a vision so true to our purpose.” – Chris Parkes, Chief Marketing Officer
“ Only Music isn’t a new idea for AIM. It’s what we’ve been doing all along. For almost 60 years, we’ve never tried to be everything to everyone; we’ve gone all in on music. That gives us a unique place in the Australian music industry and with the next generation of artists. Bringing this idea to life took a real collective effort, from the film itself through to how it’s reached people, across OOH, social, and beyond. My team, our students and creative partners have all brought their own perspective, passion and talent to the project, and together we’ve created something that feels unmistakably AIM.”.” – Prats Shiram, Head of Marketing
“An important part of the process was collaborating with musicians and production specialists who have an in-depth understanding of their instruments and areas of expertise. Working with talented staff here at AIM allowed me to develop the project beyond the initial compositional ideas, with their musical, technical and production expertise helping to shape the final sound across the composition, performance, sound design, mixing and mastering. The strength of this project is a direct reflection of the talent, expertise, creativity, and generosity of everyone involved. I am proud to collaborate with such an exceptional team.” – Dr Bonnie Green, Academic Lecturer
“Being part of the Only Music campaign was such a surreal experience. All of the cast and crew were so incredibly talented, thoughtful, and professional. I am incredibly grateful to everyone involved, and it was such an amazing experience to work alongside my peers and long-term collaborators in such a creative setting.” – Elise Madgwick, Bachelor of Music (Performance) Student
