Welcome to the Australian Institute of Music! Our Orientation Week is the backstage pass to life at AIM for all students commencing their studies in Sydney for 2026. It’s about kicking off the next chapter in your music journey, meeting your crew, and finding your rhythm on campus.
Whether you’re buzzing with excitement or feeling those first-day nerves, this is your moment to dive in and start your creative journey with a community of passionate musicians just like you.
What to expect on the day:
- Official welcome and live music: Join CEO, Ben O’Hara, for your official welcome to AIM, followed by live performances by an AIM student band to kick off the day.
- Peer and staff networking: Connect with new classmates, current students, and staff who’ll support you from your first class to your first gig (and beyond). This is a great opportunity to build your network early, because you never know where your next collaboration will start.
- Area walking tour: Step off campus and explore The Rocks with your new classmates. Discover local cafes, hidden laneways, and vibrant spots around campus while getting to know the area and each other.
- Academic and practical sessions: Get to know your lecturers, dive into a crash course on what to expect from your degree, then put theory into action with an interactive, hands-on session tailored to your study area.
- Orientation party: Wrap up an unforgettable week one with an exclusive invitation to our iconic Orientation Party. It’s the perfect chance to relax, meet more students, and start your AIM journey on a high note.
What to bring: Your water bottle, laptop (if available), and your creative energy!
