On Tuesday, May 21st, in Hangzhou, China, we (AIM) proudly launched our first offshore program. This marks our first major milestone in growing global connectivity.

In partnership with the prestigious Zhejiang Vocational Academy of Art (ZVAA), the new initiative demonstrates AIM’s commitment to supporting the next generation of musicians and creative entrepreneurs across the Asia-Pacific Region. This collaboration will encourage academics and students to share ideas, help to improve the curriculum and inspire new music innovation. The program is set to commence later in the year, October 2025, with an inaugural cohort of visiting AIM lecturers teaching in Hangzhou.
This collaboration will encompass the exchange of ZVAA and AIM students and faculty, enabling curricular innovation and creating opportunities for our community of young artists. The Joint Program will commence in October 2025, with an inaugural cohort of visiting AIM lecturers teaching in Hangzhou. AIM will host its first Study Tour from ZVAA this August with a further visit from ZVAA lecturers.
Leaders from both institutions attended the program launch, including our CEO, Ben O’Hara.
“This trip emphasises the energy and ambition across the Asia Pacific region and speaks volumes about the future of our industry. We’re proud to play a part in supporting a vibrant community of creative entrepreneurs and musicians.” – Ben O’Hara
This program not only marks a historic first for AIM but also emphasises a long-term commitment to the creative collaboration between Australia and China. We look forward to welcoming the first student and faculty cohorts in 2025.

Participants of the Joint Program launch ceremony, including a delegation from the Australian Consulate and Chinese Ministry of Education, were treated to several performances from the talented ZVAA Diploma of Music students, including a charming rendition of “Click Go The Shears” to commemorate the occasion.
