How to help your child apply to AIM?

1. Help your child pick their music course

We offer a diverse range of specialised music courses across Performance, Composition, Creative Technology, Music Theatre, Musicology and Music Business. Our programs include Bachelor degrees, Diplomas and short courses designed to develop your child’s talent, creativity and professional skills. Explore our course pages to see how AIM can support their ambitions and future career goals.

2. Check their course entry requirements

All courses have entry requirements, which vary from resume submissions, interviews or auditions. Your child’s ATAR will not be taken into consideration when reviewing their application, all that is required is proof of completion of High School.

Students who don’t pass an audition into our Bachelors course have the opportunity to undertake the diploma as a possible pathway into the Bachelor’s degree.

3. Submit an application

AIM offers a simple application process with support from our Future Students Team at every step of the way.

Students can have multiple entry ways in which they can apply to AIM. If your child is a NSW Year 12 student then they can apply via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). If your child is a VIC Year 12 student then they can apply via Apply via the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC).

Alternatively your child can submit an application directly to AIM by submitting this form.

Parents Frequently Asked Questions

No, we doesn’t consider ATARs for entry into AIM. Your child just needs to show they’ve completed high school and meet the entry requirements of their course, which may include a resume or portfolio, an interview, or an audition depending on what they’re applying for.

AIM is a specialised tertiary education institution that focuses exclusively on music, the only one of its kind in Australia. We deliver AQF-accredited Diplomas and Bachelor degrees, with all courses accredited by TEQSA and designed specifically for students pursuing a future in the music industry.

AIM is a registered Higher Education Provider – which means eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students are able to access FEE-HELP – the Australian Government’s Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) to assist students with the cost of course fees. In most cases, FEE-HELP will cover your entire course fees.

If you’re child is an Australian citizen or holds a permanent humanitarian visa and resides in Australia, you can apply for FEE-HELP. Visit the government website Study Assist or call 1800 020 108 for more information.
