A music excursion experience perfect for school students.
AIM’s Backstage Pass provides secondary music students in years 9 to 12 with an enjoyable, interactive, and educational experience at The Australian Institute of Music’s Melbourne Campus. It’s a day full of musical collaboration to give students a holistic music experience.

SESSION 1 – 10:00 to 10:30 am
Collaborative Performance
This session is designed as an icebreaker and involves working collaboratively through musical concepts via the voice to better inform musical practice. Importantly, these are for all students and staff present.
SESSION 2 – 10:30 to 12:00 pm
Performance Workshop
Our music performance experts will work with your students on existing work or works that are already being studied or prepared. Alternatively, we can arrange unseen repertoire and run your students through the process of learning music efficiently as an ensemble.

SESSION 3 – 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm
An Overview of Tertiary Study
In this session, we will provide an overview of what tertiary music study is like and answer any questions your students might have.
SESSION 4 – 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
Live Music Business with Industri Education
Led by our educational partners Industri Ed, this session looks at the Live Music Industry from all angles. From festival & venue management to working the sound desk.
Price:
The cost for the Backstage Pass Melbourne is $250 per group.
Please note AIM Backstage Pass can accommodate groups of up to 25 students.
What to bring:
AIM will supply all backline equipment (amps, piano, mics, drum kits etc) but requires students to bring their own instruments. Paper and pen might be useful but not mandatory. If working through rehearsed material, a copy of the music is useful for our lecturers to reference during the sessions. Lunch & snacks, as we are in the CBD you have access to lots of food shops, but time is limited so come prepared.
