For anyone considering studying music in Sydney or Melbourne, it’s absolutely essential to pencil the annual Australian Institute of Music (AIM) Open Days into your calendar. Not only will attending an Open Day help you make the best possible choice for your music career, but it’s going to be packed with performances from our talented student musicians. 

Coming up in 2024, AIM will be opening its doors on Thursday 18 January from 10 am to 3 pm.

Unleash your talent, impress the judges and start your journey towards a Bachelor of Music – Performance or similar course. Talk to the Student Recruitment Team on-site to coordinate your audition on the day.

2. 2030 Records Showcase

Have you ever wanted to run your own record label? At AIM you can live that dream by getting involved in the student team who runs our student record label 2030 Records. See a showcase of performers represented by 2030 Records performing at Open Day, and start a conversation with one of the student producers.

3. Meet Industry Professional Staff

Networking is always important in the music industry. One of the great things about studying at AIM is that lecturers and teaching staff are all industry professionals and experts in their fields. You don’t even have to be enrolled to come and meet them: just show up at Open Day, expand your networks and get some valuable advice about the music business from those on the inside.

Of course, it’s not all about serious business. At AIM’s Open Day, you also get to have fun and enjoy some fantastic performances by talented students who are studying a wide range of fields. From the Sydney campus’ Roots and Reggae ensemble to classical, film composition and musical theatre, there will be incredible performances to suit everyone’s musical taste.

5. Open Studios and Campus Tour

For anyone who wants to study music performance, audio engineering, or production and composition, it may be particularly important for you to have the chance to see all the audio recording, production and engineering facilities available for students to use. At Open Day, you’ll get the chance to join one of many campus tours and studio sessions on offer at AIM. Leaving every hour, these small group tours will be led by AIM Student Advisors and Ambassadors. See the rehearsal rooms, performance spaces and cutting-edge tools and software for yourself that will be provided as a part of your education.
