How to Apply
Applying to the Australian Institute of Music is easy. To find out all the information you need, select the option that applies to you.
Domestic Students
You are a domestic student if you are:
- an Australian or New Zealand citizen (including dual citizens)
- a permanent resident of Australia
- a holder of a permanent Australian humanitarian visa.
International Students
You are an international student if you are NOT:
- an Australian or New Zealand citizen (including dual citizens)
- a permanent resident of Australia
- a holder of a permanent Australian humanitarian visa.
Intake and Census Dates
AIM has three study periods per year. These are our 2024 and 2025 dates.
Study Period 3 2024
- Orientation for new students: 2 Sept to 6 Sept
- Week 1: 9 Sept to 13 Sept
- Census date: 26 Sept
- Week 7 Study Break: 21 Oct to 28 Oct
- Week 13 Assessment Week: 2 Dec to 6 Dec
Study Period 1 2025
- Orientation for new students: 27 Jan to 31 Jan
- Week 1: 3 Feb – 7 Feb
- Census date: 20 Feb
- Week 7 Study Break: 17 Mar – 21 Mar
- Week 13 Assessment Week: 28 Apr – 2 May
Study Period 2 2025
- Orientation for new students: 19 May to 23 May
- Week 1: 26 May – 30 May
- Census date: 12 June
- Week 7 Study Break: 7 Jul – 11 Jul
