- 50% Creative Projects: Engage in hands-on creative work where you will propose and develop your project, setting and achieving key milestones along the way. Whether you’re organising a music festival, composing original music, or innovating in the music business, you will receive the support necessary to bring your vision to fruition
- 30% Research: Undertake research subjects that support and inform your creative projects, helping you deepen your knowledge and refine your approach. This program is designed to set you up for rigorous research and real-world application of insights and findings, ensuring you’re well-prepared for a successful career in the music industry.

Arts Management Module 1 – Engaging the Creative Mind and Commerce

Arts Management Module 2 – Managing Yourself

The arts and entertainment industries require both the creative and management sides of business to be adept in both self-managing and motivating. Composition Module 1 – Innovation

The Composition and Music Production program develops the creative and technical skills required by the composers and producers of creative industries, and Module 1 introduces students to fundamental strategies in composition and production. Students learn systems in melody, harmony, rhythm, sequencing, and form to develop a creative practice in a series of practical exercises, attending a combination of weekly seminars, tutorials, and online self-paced modules.

Creative Technology Module 1 – Capturing and Creating Sound
MAJOR SPECIALISATION ELECTIVE

The first of two Music Specialisation modules leading into the Creative Technology major study stream, this unit focuses on foundational audio techniques and acoustic and sound theory, developing an understanding of sound equipment, microphone types and placement, basic DAW usage, mixing desk fundamentals, EQ, and concepts such as frequency, amplitude and acoustics. Students demonstrate their knowledge through a written examination assessing theoretical and technical knowledge of fundamental sound and acoustic concepts, and a practical examination assessing technical audio skills.
Creative Technology Module 2 – The Production Process

The second of two Music Specialisation modules leading into the Creative Technology major study stream, this unit introduces students to basic operation principles of digital audio workstations (DAWs), covering DAW navigation, editing techniques, MIDI, signal processors such as EQ and compression, virtual instruments, and fundamental mixing. Students demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and critical listening skills over two practical assessments that emphasise standard workflow practice and principles.

In this module, students have the opportunity to develop instrumental or vocal performance skills through both private instruction and a weekly Performance Practice class (masterclasses, workshops, seminars), examining the cultural contexts of their music and developing an understanding of performance decisions as pertaining to relevant style/s and genre/s. Students will choose a sub-specialisation in either contemporary or Classical music styles, and will reflect on their learning process as musicians.

Extending from Performance Module 1, this unit allows students to further develop instrumental or vocal performance skills, growing in technical and expressive fluency through both private instruction and a weekly Performance Practice class (masterclasses, workshops, seminars). Students continue to examine the cultural contexts of their music, develop an understanding of performance decisions pertaining to relevant style/s and genre/s, and reflect on their learning process as musicians.
