Built for performers who are ready to turn their passion into a professional career, this degree develops the vocal power, dramatic depth, and stage presence necessary to land leading roles, command professional ensembles, and create original theatre works that captivate audiences.

Through specialist one-on-one tuition and a fully integrated approach to singing, acting, and movement, every part of your training is designed to take your skills from where they are now to the stages you’re destined for.

Entry Requirements

School leaver applicants must:

  • Have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 qualification (or overseas equivalent as assessed by the Department of Education, including the International Baccalaureate (IB)), in the last 2 years.

Students who have successfully completed the senior level of the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (or equivalent (VCAL/VCE(VM)in the last 2 years; may be eligible for entry into a diploma level course.  Students may use the diploma as a pathway into a degree.

Applicants are required to attend a live audition and provide a portfolio of two contrasting pieces.

The Bachelor of Music Theatre develops you as a complete performer by building your triple-threat skill set across singing, dancing, and acting through specialist one-on-one tuition, collaborative projects, and live performance opportunities. Brad Miller began playing the piano at the age of five and completed his musical training in orchestration, arranging and modern harmony through Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music.

Dr. Paul Geddes

Dr. Paul Geddes is a critically acclaimed theatre practitioner, teacher and scholar. As an educator and performer he has worked for Sydney Children’s Choir, Gondwana National Choirs, Macquarie University and NIDA. He has an A.Mus.A in Piano and a PhD in English Literature with a thesis on the work of Stephen Sondheim.

Jake Tyler

Since graduating from AIM, Jake has been a part of Squabbalogic productions such as Kiss Me Kate! and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. He toured with Echelon Productions as George in Treasure Hunt, to later join the Australian Shakespeare Company in Jungle Book – The Next Chapter. He has performed alongside American composer John Bucchino and invited to perform with international star Adele in her Australian tour in 2017.

Derek Taylor

Derek is a graduate of the Elder Conservatorium, University of Adelaide and the Qld. Conservatorium and made his musical theatre debut as Monsieur Reyer in the original Australian cast of The Phantom of the Opera in 1990. He has enjoyed a long career as a performer, appearing in many professional productions including Chess, Grease, as Timothy in the original Australian cast of The Secret Garden, Tobias in the QTC production of Sweeney Todd and Hugh the Iron in the Australian musical, Crusade.
