Students will work closely with industry professionals across the day and participate in a performance analysis workshop, an individual masterclass and a mock exam, all designed to build confidence for performing live under exam conditions.

  • The Music Factory 2-Day Workshop is full of face-to-face practical sessions focused on individual and ensemble music performance, taught by AIM’s professional staff. As a collaborative 2-day experience, young musicians will work with instrument specialists on individual and collective exercises and engage in masterclasses and ensemble sessions to learn techniques and get valuable feedback.

  • Write and perform your own original songs! Students will how learn basic songwriting tools to transform their ideas into words and music and develop proper breathing and vocal techniques and styles in order to perform their work.

  • Build their music production skills with Digital Audio Workstation software in this practical two-day workshop. Students will learn about the basic design and functionality of DAWs using Logic software, gain knowledge about importing/exporting standard music and audio file formats and get practical experience in some basic recording, editing and mixing techniques.

  • This is a 5-week beginner course for adults that takes the student through the fundamental key areas of music theory and harmony. Students with no theoretical knowledge wishing to take any other AIM short courses are encouraged to take the Music Theory Skills 1 course as a precursor.

  • This is a 5-week intermediate course for adults that builds on the fundamental key areas of music theory and harmony introduced in Music Theory Skills 1 and expands that theoretical knowledge. Students with some theory wishing to refresh their knowledge are encouraged to take the Music Theory Skills 2 course.

  • Composition Skills 1 is a 5-week beginner program that introduces you to compositional techniques used across a variety of music genres to unlock your creativity and music making confidence. You will learn basic song structures, chord progressions, scales, motif structures and rhythmic tools.

  • Songwriting Skills 1 is a 5-week beginner program for adults which introduces the fundamentals of songwriting. You will learn lyric rhyme and rhythm patterns, and some common and useful chord progressions towards the development of your own material.

  • Ableton Skills 2 is a 5-week intermediate program designed to build on the techniques introduced in the Ableton 1 course or for those looking to take their electronic music production skills to the next level. This course is geared towards users who already have experience using the software or are looking to transition to Live from another DAW, and have general experience creating music in other programs.

  • Ableton Skills 1 is a 5 week beginner program that introduces you to the basic operations of Ableton Live and offers a great introduction to the fundamentals of creating music in one of the world's most popular digital audio workstations. You will learn the basic operations of Ableton Live and gain some rudimentary knowledge and skills towards recording and editing Audio/MIDI files.

  • Vocal Skills 2 is a 5-week intermediate program, which continues the vocal techniques introduced in Vocal Skills 1 or for participants with some basic experience. The class will focus on warming up, vocal health, intonation, harmonising with others and song choice, while also building confidence and performance technique towards the performance of a group song at the end of the course.
